Trunyan

Lake Batur in Bangli regency is an entrance gate to a very unique area, Bali aga village in trunyan. The inhabitants of  Bali Aga Village are Bali's mountains tribes and are often called as indigenous Balinese people. they have a different tradition compared to other Balinese people in general. The village has maintained a long tradition by not buying a dead person and instead to leave the dead bodies under a tree in an open air space in the absence of any bad smell . Truyan comes from two wprds, taru which means wood and menyan which mean fragrance. There are indeed taru menyan trees which produsce over powering fragnance the trees fragnance neutralizes the smell coming out from the dead bodies which are put under their shades . This tradition has been performed for generations until present time.

The only way to reach to reach Truyan village is to get into lake Batur from kesedian village , where boats are ready to takes visitors crossing the lake to reach trunyan . The boat trips take about 20 minute . There are almost no other way to reach Trunyan than by crossing the lake as the village lies by the edge of the lake and is surrounded by steep hills, Apart from uniqe tradition , Trunyan is also an attractive site to enjoy Mount Batur from the eastern part of lake Batur. The scenery seen from this part is totally diffrent from the opposite part.
